Oliver Mackley - Sales and Marketing Director

Oliver heads up the sales and marketing department, ensuring that our remarkable clients are extremely happy with the service and products that we provide - and of course, attracting auspicious new clients for Vermont Systems to work with.

Oliver gained vast experience and expertise within the industry during his time at IBM and the Royal Navy, before joining Vermont in 2009 - with a passion for developing outstanding people, innovative sales and marketing campaigns and providing insight and strategic direction to drive business growth.

In his ‘spare’ time?! Oliver enjoys playing basketball, cycling and of course spending time with his wonderful family.


Chris Ward - Technical Director

The world of IT has changed a lot since Chris got his first computer in 1982! (A ZX Spectrum if you are interested). After gaining a first class degree in Computer Science from Manchester University, he then went on to gain extensive experience at IBM and spent many years working with banks and charities.

Chris has a real passion, not only technology, investing in the growth and development of his staff, but also excellence in proactive, customer service, helping and educating local businesses to get the most out of technology and how to protect themselves against the growing threats from cyber crime.

Over recent years this has led him to become a cyber security expert, featuring recently as a guest on BBC Radio and being invited by other industry leaders to present at prestigious events, advising leading businesses on how to protect their companies, training their staff to be vigilant and also working in the community to raise awareness on cyber crime.


Sam Wildridge - Operations Manager

Since joining Vermont in 2012 as the Service Desk Manager, Sam is now a pivotal member of the senior management team, with overall operational responsibility for the technical Department. Sam is responsible for all services that are delivered to our clients - IT management, proactive support and monitoring, project planning and delivery, the in house workshop, apprenticeship schemes and the helpdesk.

Sam has worked tirelessly to improve SLA’s and is passionate about excellence in customer service, motivating and empowering his team to strive for excellence, efficiency and professionalism throughout the business.

Don’t upset Sam – in his leisure time, Sam is a wrestler!


Peter Carr - IT Service Manager

With over 35 years’ experience within the IT industry, Peter has a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of service delivery. As Managing Director of his own IT support company for many years, Peter has first- hand experience not only of the challenges faced by IT issues but also as a SME business owner.

As a business owner, Peter fully understands the complexity and importance of ensuring that your company’s IT is running smoothly, securely, and is kept up to date with the latest advances.

Peter’s support of Vermont’s clients includes ensuring timely and accurate delivery of objectives, establishing and review of service level agreements, producing quantitative and qualitative reports on the variety of services provided and providing insight and recommendations into future requirements.

To relax, Peter enjoys gardening and the restoration of vintage radios.


Jason Sewell - Support Team Manager

Jason’s expertise has been gained through many years working in the IT industry. 12 years of this with the British Army which included 3 months intensive IT training in the Netherlands – Europe’s hotspot for leading information and communications technology companies.

Jason manages his team of service delivery and support specialists, to provide first class service to Vermont’s clients and act as the lead on strategy, setting clear objectives for his engineers, a high performance culture with a focus on team work, service excellence and ownership for resolving issues.

Jason manages the team and individual performances including technical skills and overall development.

When not working on IT support issues, or advancing his technical skills, Jason’s other passion is health and fitness with a particular interest in bodybuilding – the use of progressive resistance exercise. Another member of the Vermont team not to get on the wrong side of!


John Hedges – Business Development Manager

Prior to joining Vermont, John was actually a client and ran a successful management training company. He was so impressed with the Vermont philosophy of excellence in customer service and always ‘going the extra mile’ that he decided to join the team!

Due to the unique ‘customer-centric’ perspective of the Vermont culture, John is the first point of contact for new business enquiries, making sure that we fully understand your business, plans and strategy as well as personal aspirations, in order to provide a bespoke solution for your business not just in the short term but to plan for the future.

John fully understands and appreciates that a solid technology platform will help businesses and their owners achieve their goals - but if not managed exceptionally well, can cause serious and lasting issues.

John’s role is to help both you and Vermont define the value that technology will bring to your business…whether that is in ensuring your ‘business critical’ systems stay up and running or introducing processes that will deliver added efficiency, security and effectiveness.

In his ‘spare’ time?! John can usually be found watching the Saints, walking the dog or helping his children move…..and, on a good day, all 3!
